The Kansas Supreme Court has ruled...
that the Kansas ban of dismemberment abortion of a living unborn child violates our state constitution. The Kansas State Constitution, adopted in 1859, guarantees the “right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” and does not even mention the word abortion. Before and after the adoption of the Kansas Constitution, our legislature passed laws making it a crime to kill an unborn child by abortion. We, the undersigned citizens, object to the unelected judges making public policy on abortion. The court should not amend our constitution by judicial decree. The court should follow the intent of the framers of the constitution.
Petition to the Kansas House and Senate
We, the undersigned, urge our Kansas State Representatives and Kansas State Senators to vote for a constitutional amendment. This amendment would make it clear that there is no constitutional right to a dismemberment abortion of a living unborn child, that there is no constitutional right to taxpayer funding of abortion, and that it is the people’s elected representatives, not the court, that should make public policy on abortion.
